The hosts, France, are entering the upcoming basketball tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympics with four straight defeats.

Dyson Daniels took France down in the final seconds, handing Australia a narrow 82-83 victory in Orleans and sending Vincent Collet’s side to the Olympics with a defeat.

Before the Boomers, the French national team also fell to Germany, Serbia, and Canada. This is a negative record under Collet and the worst since 2009 in preparations for a major international competition.

Patty Mills was once again great for Australia with 24 points, as was Josh Giddey with 20 points and eight assists. Daniels followed with 14 points, while Will Magnay and Duop Reath added 10 points each.

For France, Victor Wembanyama was on the verge of a triple-double with 17 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists. Only Nicolas Batum with 12 and Guerschon Yabusele with 10 points followed in scoring.

Australia is set to play Greece, Canada, and Spain in Group A of the Olympic tournament, while France will face Germany, Japan, and Brazil in Group B.
