Lille, France – When it rains, it pours for Greece, which still has a qualifying chance with a win over Australia in the last round of group play, but at this point, it’s unclear if starting point guard Nick Calathes will be able to help.
The Greek federation officially announced the following: “Nick Calathes was taken to hospital after the game against Spain due to a sharp point on his right side, after being elbowed during the match.
The paraclinical examination performed, with x-ray and ultrasound, was negative for an obvious fracture site and showed damage to the soft tissues and between the last ribs.
Calathis is already on pain medication and is under medical supervision”.
More updates are expected in the following days. Greece will face Australia in a do-or-die game on Friday.
