LILLE, France – Going straight to the hospital after injuring his ribs in the defeat against Spain, Nick Calathes’ condition remains unclear heading to Greece’s decisive clash against Australia.

AS Monaco’s playmaker practiced today with the Greek national team but without contact, as he is still in pain. His participation in the final game of Group A against the Boomers or in the following knockout stage of the Olympic Games remains highly doubtful.

However, the 35-year-old expressed his desire to try to help Vassilis Spanoulis’ national team by any means, eager to push Greece to the following round by catching a late win over Patty Mills and teammates.

Commenting on the Greek playmaker’s potential absence, Ilias Kantzouris remained optimistic. “We think he will be with us”, Vassilis Spanoulis’ assistant coach said to the media during Greece’s practice today.

In the Greek national team’s first two encounters at the Olympic stage this summer, Nick Calathes promised 5.5 points and 7.0 assists per game in the two losses against Canada and Spain.
