Lille, France – After a narrow loss to Canada on Friday, Spain was knocked out of the 2024 Olympic Games.

At 1-2, his side fell on the wrong end of a three-way tie with Australia and Greece. Ranking fourth in Group A, also known as the group of death, signaled elimination.

“A group of death, I would not say it was stronger,” noted Lorenzo Brown in an interview with Eurohoops, “I just feel like it was our luck right now. Greece did their thing and Brazil did their thing, so we just came down with that and we lost it.”

Brown, 33, debuted for Spain in the 2022 EuroBasket, getting a gold medal and a spot in the All-Tournament Team. Last summer, he missed out on the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

“It is always on the up,” he talked about the future of Spanish basketball, “You have a lot of great young talent coming in. So, I know the guys are looking forward to that. But I feel like the young talent that is coming in is pretty decent. And it should be a great welcome for those young guys coming in to see the professional talent that everyone has in the Olympics.”

“For sure, most definitely,” he added confirming his intentions to play in the 2025 EuroBasket.

Panathinaikos

At the club level, the North Carolina State product switched to Panathinaikos Aktor during the offseason.

“I am excited,” he told Eurohoops, “I am excited to get there. I am excited to learn a bunch of new things and get to know my teammates a little better.”

“I am looking forward to it,” he continued, “I know once I get there, it will be open arms for me. So, just ready to go compete and try to get to the championship.”
