3×3 basketball was a nightmare for USA Basketball at this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris, as the female team managed to find a Semi-Final spot with a miraculous comeback, while the male side wasn’t able to compete for a medal under the Eiffel Tower.
On top of that, the icon Jimmer Fredette suffered a severe six-month injury, tearing ligaments in his adductor, and being forced to take a long recovery once coming back home.
The shooting sensation announced it on his social media accounts. “I had an injury that took place in the beginning minutes of our second game against Poland. I tore two different ligaments completely in my adductor, which prevented me from being able to compete. This will lead me to have a recovery of around 6 months”, he said.
Jimmer Fredette continued. “In that time we went from a no-name team to the number 1 team in the world this year – and did things that no American team has ever done. I also became the #1 ranked player in the world on the same day I was injured. Pretty crazy coincidence. But we were fully prepared and excited to make a medal run here in Paris”, he also revealed.
Before fully moving to 3×3 basketball, he played for several years between the NBA and the G-League while also spending time in China with Shanghai Sharks and in Europe with Panathinaikos during the 2019-20 season.
