The Netherlands beat France in the 3X3 men’s final of the Paris Olympics, while Germany won the women;s tournament

Played under the Eiffel Tower, the 3X3 basketball tournament in the Paris Olympics ended with a bang.

Thanks to a big shot by Worthy De Jong, the Netherlands got the 18-17 overtime win over hosts France in the men’s tournament, stealing the show.

A 2015 and 2022 Eurobasket participant with the Dutch team, 36-year-old De Jong retired recently from professional basketball and became a dedicated 3X3 player, he was the flagbearer of the Netherlands in the Olympics and he delivered with seven points in the final.

Jan Driessen added six points, Dimeo van der Horst scored two, and Arvin Slagter had three.

For the French silver medalists, Franck Seguela scored six, Lucas Dussoulier added five, Timothé Vergiat had three, and Jules Rambaut contributed four.

Lithuania won the bronze medal by beating Latvia 21-18 with Šarūnas Vingelis scoring nine points.

German triumph

In the women’s tournament, Germany was the big winner over Spain by one point (17-16) and Sonja Greinacher scored five points.

The USA beat Canada 16-13 and got the bronze medal.
