Completing the biggest comeback in the history of the Olympic Games tournaments, Serbia survived Australia and clinched a berth in the Semifinals of the knockout stage of the 2024 Paris Games.

Aleksa Avramovic chipped in ten points behind 4/7 field goals. He added four rebounds, one steal, and one assist over 23 minutes in Paris on Thursday.

After an unsportsmanlike foul on Dante Exum, he was booed by the crowd at Accor Arena. The 29-year-old combo guard later reached out to his former teammate during the 2022-23 season at Partizan Mozzart Bet.

“I apologized to him,” he said after the overtime thriller, “Dante is my brother, the best teammate I have ever had. I have said that many times.”

“I was already very tired. I wanted to commit a foul,” he explained, “It was a very rough foul. And I apologized. I talked to him and everything is fine.”

A nightmare start for Serbia allowed the Boomers to enjoy a 24-point advantage with Patty Mills taking over and finishing the first half at 20 points.

“We spent a lot of energy,” Avramovic described the team effort, “I can say that we remained focused, even down 24 points.”

“I was determined to help us lock him up. I guarded him with all my strength,” he replied about the team coached by Svetislav Pesic limit Mills to six points after the break.

In the Semifinals, Serbia clashes with the winner of the game between the United States and Brazil.
