The Denver Nuggets made their way to Abu Dhabi to go up against the reigning NBA Champions, the Boston Celtics, in a preseason encounter prior to the beginning of the 2024-25 season.

Nikola Jokic, interviewed by media, also took time to comment on the summer experience with the Serbian national team, gaining a hard-fought bronze medal.

First, he spoke about the narrow defeat in the Semi-Finals to Team USA. “It was a good match. Probably the biggest defeat of my career. [We had a] big chance. In the end, they beat us. People from the stands will probably see it as a normal defeat, but for those who played, it was certainly one of the toughest defeats in our careers”, he said via Mozzart Sport.

With Nebojsa Covic hired as President of the Serbian Basketball Federation, he wants Svetislav Pesic back to coaching the national team. Nikola Jokic was asked about the Serbian head coach, whose contract expired following Paris 2024.

“I always have a good relationship with the coach. Normally I want him to stay, but that’s up to him, not us. We will certainly, if he is the coach, do our best on the court. If he decides not to continue, we will certainly support him. In these few years, he has done great things for our basketball”, he stated.

The Denver Nuggets superstar also spoke about his newest teammate, Russell Westbrook. “Russell [Westbrook] is always positive. He’s a great teammate. On the court, off the court, he is perfect for now, I hope he will be like that all season”, he commented on the former Oklahoma City Thunder explosive guard.
