Although he wasn’t present the Olympic Qualifying Tournament of Manila, Rudy Gobert is ready to bolster the French national team in Rio.
The Utah Jazz center announced the news himself on Twitter. “It is with pleasure that I announce that I will be in Rio with my brothers, to defend the colors of France!”, he wrote.
National team head coach Vincent Collet had already mentioned, during the qualification tournament, that he expects Gobert (and Evan Fournier) to join the national team for the Olympic Games, given that France would get the ticket to Rio.
Some days later, not only France has been qualified to biggest sports event on the planet, but Gobert has also completely healed from his right ankle-injury he had suffered on April, during a game against the Mavs.
That injury was, after all one of the main reasons behind his absence from the games in Manila. Now, he is at full strength, ready to help his country’s quite ambitious efforts in the Olympic Games.
C’est avec plaisir que j’annonce que je serai présent à Rio avec mes frères pour défendre les couleurs de la France! #RoadToRio ??????
