Jorge Garbajosa, the president of the Spanish Basketball Federation, was one of the main speakers of the Europa Press Sports Breakfasts and according to “Marca” he once again said that Pau Gasol intends to be part of the Spanish national team in the Tokyo Olympics.
While Gasol is still injured and he is expected to act as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers coaching staff until the end of the season, the plan for him remains to play this summer again with the Spanish national team. As Garbajosa, a former teammate of Gasol in the national team said: “He will do everything possible and part of the impossible to be there. If Pau wants and can, he will be. And if he can’t be on the court, let him be there in any position he wants. We will always wait for him”.
Gasol is the best ever Spanish basketball player and he has won 11 medals with the Spanish national team during his already legendary career, including two silver Olympic medals and a World Cup gold.
Meanwhile, Barcelona is also willing to offer him a contract in order to close his career wearing the Spanish team’s jersey.
