Deni Avdija and Tyler Dorsey partnered up and gave Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv a 94-83 road win over UNET Holon in the Israeli League.
Avdija, a top NBA prospect which is projected to be among the first picks of the upcoming NBA draft, banked a career-high 22 points and Dorsey was right behind with 17 while Othello Hunter flirted with a double-double by logging 14 points and nine rebounds. Quincy Acy also added 14 points.
“I played with more confidence and the guys also did a good job,” said the young forward who staying on the court for 31 minutes. “It’s not a simple process. I’m a player who works really hard, and feels like I’m growing and having more confidence as the season goes on”.
Maccabi coach Giannis Sfairopoulos added: “Danny is a talented player and he has a great future ahead of him. Where that will happen? I don’t predict fortunes. He needs to stay humble and with his feet on the ground. Obviously he’s getting better, Maccabi’s system is helping him and other players to improve. I said from the first moment I believe in Israeli players and I want to have a larger Israeli core in the roster”.
For Holon, Marcus Foster nailed game-high 27 points while Troy Caupain and Ryan Thompson followed with 12 each.
Maccabi was up 18-12 after ten minutes and kept the distance by halftime (39-33). They went ahead in double-digits (68-58) before the fourth quarter in which they sealed the deal.
Maccabi stayed undefeated in the Israeli League with 14 wins while Holon now stands at the sixth spot with a 7-7 record.
