Tyler Dorsey came close to the triple-double by posting 20 points, eight rebounds plus eight assists and Deni Avdija finished with 20 points (4/5 triples) plus seven rebounds as Maccabi Tel Aviv beat Hapoel Be’er Sheva 98 – 74 at home to improve to 17 – 1 in the Israeli Winner League.
Dorsey scored 17 of his points in the second quarter to lead Maccabi’s charge into becoming the boss of the game. The “Yellows” closed halftime up 52 – 44 after winning the second period 30 – 23 and dominated after the break to reach the win.
The hosts shot 13/20 3-pointers and had 23 assists overall.
Da’Sean Butler (20 points) and TJ Williams (16 points) scored in double figures for Be’er Sheva that dropped to 6-12 and the bottom of the standings.
Amar’e Stoudemire had 14 points and six rebounds for Maccabi. The team’s star guard Scottie Wilbekin had to sit the game out due to an illness.
