The Israeli League Board held a meeting Sunday (15/3) about the future of the league, which was expected to return in late March, following the public health guidelines imposed due to the COVID-19 virus outbreak.
The League administration Board of directors will announce its final decision on Monday. Among the solutions offered on Sunday’s meeting were to put all the players in quarantine, get them tested for COVID-19 and continuing the season in one city, as reported by Moses Barda.
However, at this point, the option to suspend the season and crown Maccabi Tel Aviv champions is also on the table, and the lockdown seems inevitable.
Israeli Basketball Chairman Shmuel Frankel later commented “We don’t want to shut down the season but halt it for an indefinite period of time with the hope that as the situation improves we can resume league activities”
