With the playoffs seeds determined prior to the pair of Israeli league matches on Sunday, Maccabi Rishon LeZion defeated Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv, 86-77. Earlier, Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem marched to a comfortable win, 102-67, over UNET Holon.
Maccabi Rishon blew a tight game open in the fourth quarter powered by Zach Hankins and his 18 points. Guy Goodes’ side previously beat the Yellows just ten days ago in the first Winners stage meeting of the two teams.
Yovel Zoosman put up 18 points for the losing side and Angelo Caloiaro ended up with 16 of his own. NBA prospect Deni Avdija produced a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double to go along with his three assists.
Maccabi Tel Aviv was already first and Maccabi Rishon third, while Hapoel Jerusalem second and Holon fourth. The four teams now await their quarterfinal opponent, based on the Losers stage table.
Starring in the first game of the day were Nimrod Levy with a team-high 16 points and Emanuel Terry with a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double.
