Ohio State alum Aaron Craft is officially focusing on medicine, he announced via a post on his personal Twitter account.
“The new chapter has begun!” he wrote, “Excited, a little nervous, and extremely grateful to start a journey I’ve thought about for so long. I’ve always liked our home white jerseys!”
From the beginning of the 2019-20 season prior to the coronavirus pandemic, he revealed his intentions to retire as a player after being accepted to the medical school at Ohio State University.
Only 29, his recent showings demonstrate a player ready for a basketball upgrade. However, this will not be the case as his priorities lie away from the courts.
Craft went undrafted in 2014 but still attempted to break into the NBA. Eventually, his creative talents were much appreciated in Europe with Hungary and Szolnoki Olaj being his first stop, Trento, Monaco, and Buducnost followed.
His 2019-20 season indeed marked his final basketball campaign before enrolling in the Ohio State University School of Medicine and surely was a solid one, to say the least.
Craft led the 7DAYS EuroCup field in assists, 6,9 per contest, and in steals as well with 2.7 per match. He also averaged 8.5 points and 4.7 rebounds despite Dolomiti Energia Trento finishing 0-6 in the Top 16.
The pandemic prematurely ended the LBA Serie A season with the Ohio-born player up to 7.3 points, 5.2 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game.
