The contract between Ty Lawson and Fujian Sturgeons terminated at the end of the 2019-2020 CBA season in August and although the club had re-signing the player as a priority, a recent incident changed their course.
“His inappropriate words are inconsistent with the social responsibilities and values abided by our club and have brought serious adverse social impacts to the club and the league. We will not sign him for the new season.”
And not only that but, according to Emiliano Carchia, Lawson has been banned for life from the Chinese Basketball Association after posting inappropriate Instagram stories.
Former NBA player Ty Lawson just post some pics which insult chinese and women on his insgram, although he has played in CBA in china for years.Uneducated,selfish,low-end,that’s the images he gives to the public. No wonder NBA players broken down quickly after retired @TyLawson3 pic.twitter.com/nw9g2k9jYJ

Furthermore, according to Chen Yang, the association is publishing a new clause on the registration of foreign players – Any player who publicly expresses discrimination on race, gender, color, sexual orientation, religion, etc, will not be registered to play in CBA.
