After spending a year with the Memphis Grizzlies as an assistant coach, Neven Spahija has moved on and will be coaching for the first time in China – as the head coach of the Shanghai Sharks.
Spahija’s last head coaching stint was in the 2017-18 season with Maccabi Tel Aviv when he won the Israeli League title.
The 57-year-old expert won League Championships in six countries (Croatia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Spain, Israel, Turkey) throughout his career as well as the 2010 EuroCup.
Spahija worked for four season in the NBA as an assistant – three years with the Atlanta Hawks and one year with the Grizzliies.
