European basketball veteran and former EuroCup champion Jimmy Baron announced his retirement at 34 years of age with a message on Twitter.
“What a ride. Hanging them up. Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way. I’m a firm believer of “you’re only as good as the people around you.” I was and still am very lucky and fortunate to have some amazing people who’ve helped me during my career. Thank you,” Baron tweeted.
Since 2009 when he began his professional career in Turkey with Mersin, Baron played in multiple European countries and for such teams as Lokomotiv Kuban, Virtus Roma, Fuenlabrada, Banvit, Spirou Charleroi, Neptunas Klaipeda, Rytas Vilnius and, most recently, Chalon-Reims in France.
In 2013, Baron won the EuroCup with Lokomotiv Kuban. He also led the Lithuanian League in scoring in 2016-2017.
Jimmy Baron’s brother younger brother Billy is currently playing with Russian EuroLeague club Zenit St. Petersburg.
