Zvi Sherf counts himself lucky to be alive after being infected with coronavirus and hospitalized for an extended period of time. He discussed his previous and current condition in the latest Walla! Sport’s podcast, Double Team.
“I am lucky to be alive,” he said, “I was unable to see myself waking up the next morning. For two weeks, I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t sleep. I didn’t know where I was. I was like a rag. I am a strong man. I exercise. But when the virus strikes, you lose control.”
The 68-year-old Israeli has taken over head coaching responsibilities at several clubs during his career stretching over four decades. His stints include the Israel national team, Maccabi Tel Aviv, and Aris.
“I have been very careful. I didn’t even see my grandchildren for an extended period,” he added, “But I got infected while working as a sports commentator. Then my wife got it from me and that was even tougher.”
