The derby of Tel Aviv between Maccabi and Hapoel turned out to be an easy night for the “Yellows”. Ante Zizic had a dominating performance with 26 points and 13 rebounds as Maccabi Tel Aviv got the 83-66 win and a place in the Israeli Cup semifinals.
Angelo Caloiaro added 13 points, as Maccabi started 2021 on the right foot. JP Tokoto with 19 points tried his best, but the North Carolina product, who is on his third year in Israel, was simply overmatched.
Meanwhile, Tashawn Thomas banked in 24 points on 11-13 shooting to lead Hapoel Jerusalem to the semis with an 80-65 win over Gilboa Galil. He also grabbed nine rebounds.
Hapoel Holon which downed Maccabi Haifa 96-88 also has a place in the semis. Maccabi Rishon Le Zion also qualified by beating Ness Ziona (88-83).
