After falling to Crvena Zvezda in EuroLeague, Maccabi Tel Aviv bounced back with an 84-59 home win over Hapoel Haifa in the first game of the 2021-22 Israeli League.
Keenan Evans led the convincing winning side with 14 points while Jalen Reynolds and Yiftach Ziv added 12 each. Maccabi’s offensive capability proved unstoppable for Hapoel which ended up fouling too many times and giving Maccabi 29 free throws, out of which the hosts made 23.
For Hapoel, Kadeem Allen was the only double-digit scorer with 17 points. Amit Simhon and Spencer Weisz logged nine each with Weisz also grabbing eight rebounds.
Maccabi made the crucial run in the second quarter, winning it 18-7 and going to halftime with a 41-26 lead. The gap continued to grow after the break and reached as much as 30 points, near the end of the game (84-54).
