In its first game after the dismissal of coach Martin Schiller, Zalgiris Kaunas defeated Neptunas Klaipeda at home 98-79 to extend its winning streak to five games in the Lithuanian League.
Emmanuel Mudiay produced 18 points, 7 assists for the hosts, while Niels Giffey followed with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Janis Strelnieks tapped 13 points, and Arturas Milaknis, Marek Blazevic both left the court with 12 points under the guidance of assistant coach Arne Woltmann.
Neptunas’ Benas Griciunas added a game-high with 23 points, 7 rebounds in 22 minutes and Edgaras Zelionis had 13 points.
Now Zalgiris is getting ready to face the double-round EuroLeague week, where they will play against Crvena Zvezda and Olympiacos on the road with hopes to register their first victories.
