AEL Limassol forward Corey Manigault is still in danger due to the brain injuries he sustained during a violent assault against him, his club announced. The Cypriot team initially said that the player is out of danger but the latest developments point to the opposite.
Manigault, 23, has been hospitalized with brain hemorrhage and hematoma and remains on a respirator in intensive care. His condition remains extremely serious.
On early Sunday (21/11) morning, Manigault, his girlfriend, and teammate Brandon Averette were attacked outside a club in Nicosia, Cyprus. The latter two suffered cuts and abrasions but no serious injuries.
Averette and Manigault’s girlfriend told police that they were attacked by unknown assailants.
According to the latest reports on the case, a 46-year-old has been arrested for murder attempt while two others have also been detained as suspects for their involvement in the assault. Local authorities are investigating numerous testimonies by several bystanders and witnesses of the incident.
