Janis Strelnieks fired up a season-high 23 points to help Zalgiris Kaunas make short work of visiting Lietkabelis and grab an 84-70 victory in the Lithuanian League on Sunday.
Jure Zdovc’s squad got a headstart into the game, leading 18-15 after the first 10 minutes, and managed to retain their lead for the entirety of the game, despite a comeback in the fourth quarter by the visitors
Edgaras Ulanovas and Regimantas Miniotas posted 15 and 13 points respectively for the winning side and Tyler Cavanaugh followed with 10 points.
Panagiotis Kalaitzakis had 19 points for the visiting team in the comeback effort and Nikola Radicevic added 13 points
With this victory, Zalgiris improved to a 10-1 record and remain at a tie with rivals Rytas for the top of the standings.
