Three players stepped up for Hapoel Be’er Sheva – Junior Etou, Cody Demps, Dererk Pardon – as the team took down Maccabi Tel Aviv with 74-71.
Etou was the leading scorer with 24 points while Demps added 19 and Pardon 11 points. Etou and Demps combined for nine three-pointers while Pardon grabbed 15 rebounds (six on offense) and drew nine fouls.
The crucial stretch happened midway through the fourth quarter when Demp and Neta Segal scored a three-pointer each, pushing Hapoel to 65-56. Segal also scored two free throws when Maccabi got closer (69-66) while Pardon followed up with a three to seal the deal.
Keenan Evans and John DiBartolometo scored 16 points each for the losing Maccabi while Angelo Caloiaro had 15.
Maccabi is now third in the Israeli League standings with 11-7 while Hapoel improved to a 7-11 record in the ninth place.
