Karolis Lukosiunas scored all of his season-high 21 points from beyond the arc leading Zalgiris to the away win, 93-75, over Siauliai Monday.
Apart from the 25-year-old forward dominating his former team and being the driving force for a solid team total of 17/35 three-pointers, Lukas Lekavicius chipped in 16 points and Ignas Brazdeikis ended up with 12 points at Siauliai. Kevarrius Hayes was limited to two points and 16 minutes but managed to block six shots.
Head coach Kazys Maksvytis missed Dovydas Giedraitis (illness), Tyler Cavanaugh (back), and Keenan Evans (Achilles). Also, Arnas Butkevicius (rest) did not suit up for Lithuania’s Betsafe LKL Regular Season contest.
The top performer for the hosts was Martynas Varnas, a youth product of Zalgiris. The 25-year-old swingman paired 16 points with five assists. Danish Jonas Bergstedt followed with 13 points to his name.
In more Monday action in Lithuania’s LKL, Nevezis-Optibet rolled Pieno Zvaigzdes, 83-65, improved to 7-9 while forcing the losing side to 3-12. Latvian guard Arturs Zagars paved the way with 19 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and one steal.
The Kaunas outfit going up to 15-1 is the clear leader of the standings. Second-placed Rytas at 11-4 sits 3.5 games behind its rival. Wolves and Uniclub Casino-Juventus share third place packing identical 11-5 records. On the fifth spot, 7bet-Lietkabelis holds a 10-6 record.
After clinching the sixth straight win across all competitions, Zalgiris will be seeking a fourth Turkish Airlines EuroLeague win in a row by playing host to Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet in Regular Season Round 20 Friday.
