J’Covan Brown had 32 points, eight assists and six rebounds as Hapoel Tel Aviv beat rival Maccabi Tel Aviv 96 – 95 in the classic Israeli Winner League derby. In a very tight clash, Xavier Munford hit the go-ahead 3-pointer for the winning side, making it 96 – 93 with 30 seconds remaining.
Wade Baldwin was fouled on the other end (Maccabi asked for a shooting foul on a 3-pointer) and made a pair of free throws. Chinanu Onuaku missed for Hapoel but a turnover on the other end prevented Maccabi from even getting a shot to win the game in the last moments as the hosts celebrated the victory.
Baldwin finished with 29 points plus five assists to lead Maccabi. Jalen Adams scored 20 and John Dibartolomeo finished with 18 points plus seven assists.
Onuaku contributed 16 points and six rebounds to Hapoel’s win. Tomer Ginat posted 15 points plus nine boards.
Hapoel stands at the top of the Winner League standings with an 11-2 record and one game less than second-placed (11-3), Maccabi.
