Zalgiris Kaunas lost to Valencia in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Round 5, but extended the winning streak in the Betsafe-LKL to seven games with a 69-63 win over 7bet-Lietkabelis at Zalgirio Arena.
Keenan Evans led the Kazys Maksvytis’ team to victory with 13 points, four rebounds and three assists. Laurynas Birutis followed him with 12 points, while Tomas Dimsa finished the game with 10. Arnas Butkevicius was on the verge of a double-double with nine points and eight boards.
Upon Nenad Canak’s return, Deividas Sirvydis led Lietkabelis with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Donatas Sabeckis added 12 points and dished five assists.
Zalgiris remained perfect in the domestic competition thanks to a strong second quarter (18-9), where they gained control, and later defended the lead in the final quarter, with the guests coming within four points on couple on occasions, but couldn’t trimm the deficit further.
Lithuanian champions will now face LDLC ASVEL in Round 6 of the EuroLeague (02/11), as the French team will try to record it’s first win of the season, led by newly appointed head coach Gianmarco Pozzecco.
