Zalgiris Kaunas didn’t have the best start, but after a poor first quarter, they crushed their rivals at the beginning of the Lithuanian Playoffs.
Andrea Trinchieri’s team took down Mazeikiai 97-61 at home after losing the first quarter 17-26, seizing the lead in the best-of-three quarterfinal series, allowing their rivals just 35 points in the last three periods.
Laurynas Birutis and recently signed Demetre Rivers led the winning side with 14 points and five rebounds each.
Keenan Evans followed with 11 points and eight assists, while Rolands Smits and Edgaras Ulanovas also added 11 points apiece.
On the other side, Giedrius Staniulis had 16 points with eight rebounds, while Chauncey Collins followed with 15 points.
