Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv started their defense of the Israeli championship with a playoff first-round sweep.
Oded Kattash’s side defeated Ironi Nes Ziona 105-64 to clinch the semifinal berth with a 3-0 victory in the quarterfinal series.
Rafi Menco and Roman Sorkin led the Tel Aviv side to the Game 3 victory with 17 points and five rebounds apiece, while John DiBartolomeo added 15 points. Bonzie Colson followed with 14, and Antonius Cleveland scored 13.
On the other side, only Jerome Meyinsse reached double digits with 20 points, grabbing nine rebounds as well.
Maccabi will face Hapoel Jerusalem or Hapoel Holon in the semifinals. The Jerusalem side leads the series 2-0.
