From now on, there will be one less team competing for the highest standards of European basketball, as BC Prometey Slobozhanske officially announced the termination of the team’s activities.

As written by Ukrainian sports reporter Oleksandr Proshuta, the team should have participated in the UKR Superleague 24-25, already starting the preseason camp, but everything is gone now. The volleyball side, which managed to play in the 2023-24 Champions League play-offs, was also canceled.

The club’s president and owner Volodymyr Dubinskiy described as “pressure of law enforcement agencies” the research conducted during the weekend in his companies but denied every allegation regarding money washing.

Despite the Russian invasion in February 2022, BC Prometey still managed to be competitive in the 2022-23 EuroCup season, finishing its European campaign in the Semi-Finals. The red side also won the latest two Latvian-Estonian League championships.

During the past few seasons, players like DJ Kennedy, Caleb Agada, Arnoldas Kulboka, Ondrej Balvin, DJ Stephens, and more have all represented BC Prometey Slobozhanske.
