Waiting for their official EuroLeague debut against Barcelona on October 3 at 19:00 CET, Zalgiris Kaunas continues its unbeaten run in the LKL, as they’re now 2-0 on top of the standings after beating CBet Jonava 93-72.

Laurynas Birutis led the green-and-white team in scoring with 15 points over 5/6 from the field. He was followed by last year’s BKT EuroCup scoring leader Deividas Sirvydis, who had 14 points after his promising first encounter on Gameday 1. Alen Smailagic had a double-double of 10 points and 10 boards.

This game also marked Tyrone Wallace’s official debut with the club, scoring 10 points. To leave space for him, Bryant Dunston was sidelined. On the other side, Erikas Venskus led with 13 points; he was followed by overseas newcomer and Jonava’s 24-year-old rookie Dominic Brewton, who had 12.

Entering the 2024-25 domestic season, Andrea Trinchieri’s team beat Šiauliai 91-63 in this year’s LKL campaign with 14 points each from the Lithuanian forwards Ignas Brazdeikis and Deividas Sirvydis. EuroCup participants BC Wolves and Lietkabelis also started their season with a win.
