After one year as the head coach of FC Barcelona and considering his options at the top of the 2024-25 season, Roger Grimau officially became the play-caller of Dinamo Bucharest, confirming recent rumblings on Monday.

Grimau, 46, inked a three-year contract, displaying commitment to the project presented by team officials.

“There was interest. Over the last few days, I was in the city getting to know the area and the club. My first impressions were very good and they were keen on signing me, showing their intentions in many ways,” he described the process in a recent interview with Tot costa on Catalunya Radio, the public radio network of Catalonia, “I am very happy.”

The former Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion as a player is working abroad for the first time between coaching and playing careers centered in Spain.

“The truth is I had some offers but they had not convinced me. This one did. It convinced me because I was there, they showed me the city,” he explained his decision, “When you talk about Romania or Bucharest, the image in your mind is different. It is not about the EuroLeague, EuroCup or a top domestic league, but I am very excited and eager to coach.”

“It is a short- and medium-term project on club growth. It is a project with time to work on it,” added Grimau, “We had an honest talk, both on my part and on theirs. We all wanted a project. It seems solid.”
