Two days forward from a losing effort opposite Real Madrid, Zalgiris survives a tight domestic affair

Zalgiris edged out Nevezis-Optibet, 88-86, in Zalgirio Arena on Sunday.

A missed free throw by Amit Ebo with just under six seconds remaining in the fourth quarter allowed the Kaunas outfit to survive a close call and go up to 13-2 in the 2024-25 Betsafe LKL Regular Season. However, Arnas Butkevicius suffering a leg injury at the end of a tight affair countered positivity for the team coached by Andrea Trinchieri.

Sylvain Francisco and Lonnie Walker IV were ruled out for the game due to minor injuries stemming from Round 20 of the 2024-25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season and a home loss to Real Madrid on Friday. In addition, Bryant Dunston and Deividas Sirvydis were rested. Tomas Dimsa (shoulder surgery) has yet to be cleared to start his 2024-25 journey.

Scoring all of his points over the first three quarters, Lukas Lekavicius finished with a team-high 20 points. Laurynas Birutis followed with 15 points combined with nine rebounds. Matt Mitchell and Brady Manek added 13 and 12 points, respectively. Falling narrowly shy of an upset against a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague club, Ebo registered a game-high 24 points with 7/12 field goals to go with eight assists.

In Active Vilnius Arena, Rytas took down Uniclub Bet-Juventus, 90-76, earlier Sunday. Azuolas Tubelis stood out with 18 points as the team based in the capital of Lithuania improved to 12-3.
