Zalgiris Kaunas won its sixth straight King Mindaugas Cup after defeating Neptunas in a dramatic final.
Neptunas led 89-88 after Deividas Gailius’ three-pointer with 26 seconds to go, but Deividas Sirvydis answered with a two-point jump shot under Gailius’ foul. He made the free throw, Gailius missed the potential game-winner, and Zalgiris prevailed 91-89.
Ignas Brazdeikis led Zalgiris in scoring with 20 points, shooting 4/5 from beyond the arc. The Canadian-Lithuanian forward was primarily assisted by Sylvain Francisco, who contributed 16 points, along with seven rebounds and five assists. Hero Sirvydis added 10 points.
For Neptunas Klaipeda, Desure Buie (23 points) and Nathan Johnson (22 points) were the main protagonists.
Both teams from Vilnius weren’t present in the Final Four of this year’s King Mindaugas Cup, as Rytas and BC Wolves were previously eliminated by Neptunas Klaipeda, in the Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals.
Wolves eventually lost the third-place match against Lietkabelis, as the Panevezys side won with a final score of 100-91, behind 30 points from Oleksandr Kovliar.
