After suffering a stroke and being hospitalized while in the USA, Serbian legend Zarko Paspalj is on his way back to Belgrade as reported by Kos Magazine.
“Zarko is feeling ok. He is aware and he can slowly communicate as the worst has passed for him,” said his longtime friend Vlade Divac to the Serbian magazine. Divac met Paspalj in San Antonio on his way to New York where the Sacramento Kings were playing against the Knicks.
Paspalj received assistance from Gregg Popovich and even resided at the house of the San Antonio Spurs‘ coach while recovering.
“We were all very worried about Zarko because he is the person that everyone adores and respects. Gregg Popovich did all he could to help him,” Spurs assistant Ettore Messina said about Zarko’s condition.
