Maccabi Tel Aviv needed a 12-0 run in the final minutes of the Israeli State Cup semifinal to overcome Maccabi Ashdod 76 – 73 and get the ticket for the title game.
The “Yellows” were down 65 – 57 in the mid of the fourth period, but Norris Cole, Pierre Jackson, and John Dibartolomeo drained some crucial buckets to pace their team towards a 69 – 66 lead.
Cole also hit a key 3-pointer for the 72 – 68 with only seconds remaining. Ashdod cut the deficit to a one-possession matter but Sek Henry missed the game-tying attempt at the buzzer.
Dibartolomeo was Maccabi’s top scorer with 18 points. Jake Cohen had 13 and Artsiom Parakhouski with Alex Tyus added 9 apiece.
Alex Chubrevich had a superb double-double of 18 points plus 18 rebounds for Ashdod. Cameron Long scored 16, same as Henry.
