With a great second-half performance, Lietuvos Rytas recorded a 74-67 home win against Neptunas Klaipeda in Game 3 of Lithuanian League semifinals and lead 2-1 in the best-of-five series.
The first half of the game was mostly about the clash of the veterans as Loukas Mavrokefalidis scored 14 in comparison to Renaldas Seibutis’ 15 points. It was a fairly balanced twenty minutes but Neptunas had an upper hand going on the break with an eight-point advantage (42-34).
Rytas came out ready to turn things around after the halftime rest especially on the defensive tasks. They forced the opponent to score hard earned 25 points in comparison to 42 from the first half while also stopping Seibutis’ from scoring at all.
Mavrokefalidis led the winning side with 21 points while Mindaugas Girdziunas added 14. On the other side, Seibutis recorded team-high 15 points despite not being able to score in the second half.
Game 4 of the series is scheduled for Monday 4th of June as Neptunas tries to stay alive in front of their crowd.
