Neptunas Klaipeda forced Game 5 of the Lithuanian League semifinals against Lietuvos Rytas with a comeback win at home 74-70.
With 50 seconds left in the game a former Rytas player, Renaldas Seibutis hit a two-pointer to bring the 68-67 lead to the hosts. Chris Kramer tried to reply instantly with a triple but he missed and the hosts took the W.
The hosts didn’t panic and give up after a slow start of the game. The visiting squad was all in since the first second of the match. They started the game with a 9-0 run and after five minutes of playing, they were up by 16 (20-4).
Neptunas made an immediate comeback in the second quarter. They cut the lead down to 3 points (40-37) after the first half, making this game an interesting one.
On the start of the last period, teams were tied at 50 but with the game on the line and with their backs against the wall Neptunas was determinate to extend this series.
Despite Loukas Mavrokefalidis’ best effort to end this series by scoring 12 points in the last quarter (18 totals points), it was Neptunas who won the game. Simas Galdikas led Neptunas with 15 points while Seibutis had 11.
