Loukas Mavrokefalidis held Lietuvos Rytas ahead while Ben Madgen scored the crucial baskets to stop Zalgiris Kaunas’ comeback. They led the home squad to an 82-73 win in Game 2 of Lithuanian League Finals and the best-of-seven series is now tied at 1-1.
After trailing by an eight-point margin (41-33) at the start of the second half, Zalgiris managed to bounce back and tie the game at 66 with four minutes remaining but they couldn’t complete their comeback. Madgen stopped their effort with five straight points which eventually led to a 10-2 run in favor of the hosts and secured them the victory.
Mavrokefaldis scored game-high 24 points for the winning side while Ben Madgen added 19. For Zalgiris, Brandon Davies tried to keep his team alive with 17 in addition to Edgaras Ulanovas’ 15 points.
Game 3 of the series is scheduled for Thursday 14th of June as Zalgiris tries to get the lead again in front of their crowd.
