Despite the fact that Malcolm Delaney could return to the EuroLeague, since many top teams were interested in his services, for the first time in his career the former NBA player is heading to China.
Delaney signed with the Guangdong Southeastern Tigers, the team that finished third last season in the league under Lithuanian coach Jonas Kazlauskas.
According to Eurohoops sources, his contract is a one year deal with a salary of $2 million net plus a more than respectable bonus if the club gets the championship title.
Zhu Fangyu, the general manager of the club, spoke about the new addition to the team’s roster: “We have been tracking Delaney for a long time. We talked with him before he went to the NBA. Delaney is a very energetic player on the court. I believe that his experience in multiple leagues can help him quickly integrate into our team and adapt to the rhythm of CBA. Delany has proved his abilities in the EuroLeague and the NBA. We are full of confidence in him and look forward to seeing his performance in the next season”.
