Tennessee (6-1) easily beat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (4-4) 79-51 on Sunday. Promising Yves Pons got his second straight start, but didn’t provide the same energy as last Wednesday. Volunteers’ sophomore French forward scored two points, added two blocks and a steal. He had five turnovers in 16 minutes.
Tennessee’s next game is on Sunday. It will face #1 Gonzaga in the Jerry Colangelo Classic at Phoenix. It remains to be seen if 19-year-old Pons will continue as a starter or if Rick Barnes will reinstate Jordan Bowden in his starting lineup.
