Omri Casspi scored 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out four assists in 20 minutes in his return to Israeli competitions leading Maccabi Tel Aviv to an 87 – 67 win over rival Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Winner Cup quarterfinals.
Nate Wolters added 15 points and Yovel Zoosman 11 points plus five assists for Maccabi that was superior from start to finish and wasn’t particularly threatened by Hapoel.
Tomer Ginat (17 points, six rebounds) and Demetrius Treadwell (15 points, seven rebounds) were the top contributors of Hapoel.
Maccabi will face Ironi Naharya in the semifinal Thursday. The latter advanced to the Top 4 by beating U-NET Holon 88 – 77 behind 20 points and five steals by Jerel McNeal.
Hapoel Jerusalem vs. Ironi Nes Ziona is the other semifinals matchup.
