Anthony Grundy dies at age 40

The news of Anthony Grundy’s death has saddened the basketball world. He passed away on Thursday, his NC State teammate Archie Miller revealed. No further details on the cause or the circumstances of his death are known.

Grundy played alongside Miller, currently Indiana’s head coach, at North Carolina State during his NCAA tenure between 1998 and 2002. He went on to spend most of his professional career in Europe including a couple of EuroCup campaigns with Panellinios in the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons.

In both above seasons, he was crowned scoring champion in Greece’s first division. Grundy introduced himself to European fans via Oldenburg. After leaving Germany, he competed in Cyprus, Israel, Sweden, Italy, Greece and Turkey, his professional career also included stops in Iran and the Philippines, a 12-game NBA stint with the Atlanta Hawks as well.
