Argentinian football legend Diego Armando Maradona said that he considers Manu Ginobili as the best athlete that his country has ever produced.
“Manu is above all Manus. I think he’s the best athlete in the history of Argentina, Maradona said in an interview with Libero, per Marca. Ginobili has been the most decorated Argentinian player, having won four NBA titles, the gold medal in the 2004 Olympic Games, the bronze medal in the 2008 Olympics and silver in the 2002 World Cup.
Maradona, a former world champion in 1986 and a player who is considered as one of the top footballers of all time, also praised Luis Scola, characterizing the duo of him and Ginobli as the “Messi and Ronaldo”.
“I love basketball. [Luis] Scola and Manu are like Messi and Ronaldo in football,” Maradona added.
