SIG Strasbourg announced that the team’s home game against Le Portel for the French Jeep Elite championship, scheduled for Saturday (29/2, 20:00 CET), has been postponed.

The club announced that it acted on the request of Bas-Rhin prefecture, which relayed the government’s instructions that the events bringing together more than 5,000 people in a confined environment have been forbidden due to coronavirus.

Coronavirus outbreak affected basketball organizations across the world, with the Italian Federation being an example of postponing all of its games during this weekend, while in some cases, clubs hold games with the necessary safety precautions, as did Zalgiris for the EuroLeague game against Olimpia Milano.

However, the games between Le Mans-Bourg, Nancy-Poitiers, ASVEL-Monaco, and Bourges-Charnay are expected to be played. Both Le Mans and ASVEL have gyms with more than 5.000 seats, but restrictions on the number of spectators will be applied.

So far, only two EuroLeague Women games have been canceled in Europe due to coronavirus.
