The French League has been the only remaining major competition in Europe still going and it has now come to an end with LDLC ASVEL beating JDA Dijon 87-74 to become the champions.
This is the club’s 20th championship title while Dijon missed the chance to grab its first-ever French League trophy and crown their historic run in the competition this season.
Norris Cole and David Lighty were responsible for the outcome as they led the victors with 21 and 20 points respectively. Paul Lacombe had 16 points and eight rebounds while Antoine Diot logged 14 points, six boards, and six assists.
Cole added another trophy to his collection after winning the NBA title back in 2012 and 2013 with Miami, and the Israeli League (2018) and Cup (2017) with Maccabi. ASVEL also won the French Cup this season.
For Dijon, Hand Vanwijn tried his best with 19 points while Jacques Alingue scored 15 and Jaron Johnson 13 points. Stopping Alexandre Chassang, who dominated the postseason beforehand, was a key factor and ASVEL succeeded in limiting his output at nine points and six assists.
