LDLC ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne cruised past Orleans, 99-74, on Halloween Sunday.
Chris Jones connected 4/4 from three-point range en route for the game-high 27 points in the Betclic Elite LNB Pro A Regular Season Round 6 match. Paul Lacombe with 14 points and Antoine Diot with 11 points were the remaining double-digit scorers for the team led by T.J. Parker. Raymar Morgan, Youssoupha Fall, and Dylan Osetkowski were held out.
ASVEL upped its domestic record to 5-1 overcoming a 22-point effort by Youssou Ndoye. A couple of wins against CSKA Moscow and Panathinaikos OPAP this week got the EuroLeague record to 5-2 ahead of Thursday’s home game versus UNICS Kazan.
Fellow EuroLeague French side, AS Monaco, routed Paris, 100-75, improving to 5-1 with a fourth consecutive win in the French League. Alpha Diallo stood out in a balanced scoring display with a team-high 15 points. Paris Lee fired 13 points, while Brock Motum, Rudy Demahis-Ballou, and Ibrahima Fall Faye all posted 12 points. Dwayne Bacon, Leo Westermann, Will Thomas, and Donta Hall were all out.
La Roca Team brushed off a game-high 22 points logged by Juhann Begarin, selected with the 45th overall pick by the Boston Celtics in the 2021 NBA draft. The young guard has averaged 12.7 points per game so far but the team based in the French capital, a newcomer to the top-flight division, is only 1-5.
Monaco fresh off a perfect two-game EuroLeague week, led by Zvezdan Mitrovic, will be heading to Greece for Round 8 of the EuroLeague Regular Season aiming to catch Olympiacos at five wins. The Round 8 fixture of the Regular Season is scheduled to be held on Friday.
Besides Villeurbanne and Monaco, Metropolitans 92 is also 5-1 sharing the lead early in the 2021-22 Regular Season.
