Elie Okobo scored 26 points and grabbed six rebounds as ASVEL Villeurbanne defeated JDA Dijon 101 – 90 to go up 2-0 in the French Jeep Elite League semifinals. The reigning champions can finish the job on the road in an elimination game for Dijon.
Chris Jones added 20 points plus seven assists for ASVEL while Marcos Knight had 20 points to create a winning trinity along with Okobo. Their team blew a 12-point halftime lead (52-40) and saw Dijon going up 72 – 75 at the end of the third quarter before reclaiming the lead with a powerful finish.
David Holston scored 28 points and Chase Simon added 20 points plus six rebounds for Dijon that fought hard enough to complete a comeback in the second half but was unable to push back ASVEL’s counterattack in the fourth period.
