Jordan Loyd scored 15 points on 5-6 shots in his 2023-24 season debut and AS Monaco beat Gravelines-Dunkerque 91 – 76 to remain the only undefeated team in the French League after nine rounds.
Loyd, who was recovering from lumbar spine surgery he underwent in summer, was a starter and spent 21 minutes on the floor, dropping his first bucket early in the game. Monaco actually trailed 16 – 23 at the end of the first quarter but recovered to take a 41 – 38 at halftime and then built and retained a double-digit advantage.
Alpha Diallo had a team-high 16 points for Monaco while Petr Cornelie dropped 12 points. Vafessa Fofana finished with 19 points and Tajuan Agee posted 175 points plus six rebounds for Cholet that is now 5-2.
Monaco, with Loyd now on board, will be traveling to Italy to face Olimpia Milano Thursday (2/11). The Monegasque side comes from three straight EuroLeague wins vs. Crvena Zvezda, ALBA Berlin and Maccabi Tel Aviv.
